Do your requirements and design initiatives produce systems people adopt and readily use? Or are you getting the expected productivity and business
results from critical job roles? We use the Performance DNA™ methodology that we helped develop as the front-end elicitation and analysis tool to
capture requirements, make information architecture and design decisions, optimize tools, and improve performance even in non-technical solutions such as
leadership development.
The Performance DNA methodology is licensed and taught by the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) in its prestigious Human Performance
Improvement (HPI) Certificate program, and is recognized as the gold standard for defining and improving performance worldwide. This structured, outcome-based
methodology has been employed in every environment and sector – including global Fortune 200 and government organizations. The methodology follows the format:
- Develop models of high performance by identifying the primary outcomes associated with organizational and/or job success.
- Define metrics and critical success factors that track progress.
- Identify requirements, recommendations and methods for closing gaps.
Using specialized interview protocols and assessments, the analyst team targets stakeholders and top performers (typically the top 1-3% of their peers) in
target jobs. Unlike traditional approaches that target a population that is too broad or includes substandard performers, Performance DNA™ focuses on top
performers to isolate requirements and techniques that can move the bell curve forward, increasing the percentage of the population who can perform at above
standard levels. This enables you to design solutions that achieve greater productivity without adding additional staff or exhausting your exemplary
performers.
How Performance DNA Works
Performance DNA examines the individuals who consistently produce the outcomes that matter to your organization. We "find what’s right," then we use the
analysis findings to craft solutions ranging from outcome-based requirements and design, to automated processes, improved hiring profiles, focused training,
and usable competency models.
Cognitive Technologies conducts most Performance DNA projects over the course of approximately 6-8 weeks, depending on the population size of the job being
analyzed. We integrate our understanding of how people work and the impact of tools and processes, to identify the best ways to advance performance through
people, process, and technology. Throughout the project, you’re in good hands—the Cognitive Technologies team helped create the methodology and has trained
numerous practitioners and organizations in its use.
