Asset Management Support for the EDUCATE Program

Goal

Resolve key asset management issues on the EDUCATE contract. This included locating and tagging IT equipment, creating effective processes for handling and tracking EDUCATE equipment, creating a baseline for all assets, and facilitating a process to maintain asset management on the contract in order to accurately invoice monthly.

Challenges

The Dept of Education (DoED) has approximately 4,200 employees spread out over 15+ locations throughout the U.S. and the asset management process had to cover all of these locations. All equipment containint PII had to be located and tagged after the transition. The asset management processes and procedures had not been created or communicated fully in the contract. And the existing asset management database was still being developed.

Solution

With limited resources, Cognitive Technologies formulated a plan to locate and tag the equipment. Cognitive Technologies led the process development and process improvement activities for the asset management and inventory efforts. Cognitive Technologies successfully baselined the department's inventory and implemented new processes for maintaining the inventory.

Cognitive Technologies' skills in project management, process development, and business analysis provided the foundation for a successful solution.
